Hi there, my name is Chris Kocina, and I am the owner of LivFree Bookkeeping, LLC. I am a professional bookkeeper who helps contractors, construction companies and small businesses feel liberated and gain confidence by keeping their financial information safe and organized so they can focus more on living the life of their dreams. I have always had an interest in numbers, statistical trends, and finance, and I help business owners stay on top of theirs. My compassion and willingness to help make clients feel valued and understood with the comfort of knowing they are in good hands.

I grew up in the small town of Red Wing, MN, and graduated from Red Wing High School in 2007. After high school, I aspired to become a rock star (musician) but realized that financially, it was a tough road to travel and started working at a leather production company in my hometown. Not satisfied with being an employee, I decided to attend Minnesota State College – Southeast Technical for Supervisory Management and Business Management, where I graduated both degrees with a 4.0 GPA.

Initially, I set out to climb the corporate ladder, but I quickly realized that the traditional corporate structure wasn’t for me. Working for someone else was taking away the freedom I wanted to invest in my true passions—music, art, and snowboarding. In college, I discovered how vital accounting is to every business, and I knew it was something I not only enjoyed but wanted to master. That passion led me to create LivFree Bookkeeping, LLC.

Since then, I’ve dedicated myself to providing expert small business bookkeeping services that give my clients peace of mind, financial clarity, and the freedom to focus on what drives them.

I don’t just preach the LivFree lifestyle—I live it. Today, I serve my clients with excellence while embracing life as a digital nomad, currently based in Thailand. LivFree Bookkeeping has allowed me to blend work and play, proving that it’s possible to love what you do and live the life you choose. That’s the same freedom I aim to give every client: the ability to delegate the tasks that drain them and focus instead on what fuels their fire.

I have always admired the hard work, dedication, and planning that is involved with the construction trades. These are the people that build and support the backbone of our great nation. It is an honor for me to contribute to America’s infrastructure by helping contractors and construction companies gain clarity and confidence over their finances, so they can continue to help citizens and companies build their dreams while building theirs as well. 

I always approach my clients’ work with the same energy and motivation as I did in college; leave no questions unanswered and begin with the end in mind – total satisfaction. Through the initial struggles of starting my own business, I realized this was a tremendous opportunity to help others who are hard-working, driven business owners that like to have fun and want to grow their businesses and excel in life.
